Yes. Apple doesn’t provide a pause or stop button, but there are tricks to help cancel iPhone updates. Obtaining iOS updates wirelessly usually involves two steps: downloading and installing the update.

  • Pause the download, stop the installation from starting, and save the data
  • Remove partially downloaded updates to prevent rebooting.

Cancel downloaded iPhone update

The procedure for removing downloaded software updates is the same regardless of whether the updates have been partially or completely downloaded (but not installed).
