Following in the footsteps of Apple and Samsung, Google has joined the ever-growing list of companies that don’t include a charging adapter in their smartphone box. The Mountain View giant recently confirmed that it will not include its next flagship product, the Pixel 6 Series charger, to meet its environmental goals.

Well, for those who don’t know, phone makers started eliminating inbox charging bricks on their flagship smartphones early last year. Apple was the first to make this highly controversial decision when it announced that it wouldn’t offer a charging adapter for the iPhone 12 series.
Following the Cupertino giant, Chinese giant Xiaomi confirmed at the end of last year that it would do the same with the Mi 11 series. In addition, Samsung joined the list of Galaxy S21 series earlier this year, despite ridiculing Apple for not including a charger in 2020.

Like most of the companies above, Google cites the environmental impact of e-waste due to the lack of a charging adapter in Pixel 6 smartphones.In addition, the company also told Verge: “Most people already have a USB-C charging brick.” Therefore, you no longer need to put the charger in your smartphone box.
That’s why Google plans to launch the Pixel 6 series in the fall of 2021 and ship the device with only the USB-C charging cable. Users will need to use an existing USB-C charging adapter or purchase a new adapter to charge their Google Pixel 6 device.
