1. Cancel the active subscription
If you have an active subscription, you cannot change the country of the App Store. It doesn’t matter if your subscription is for Apple services such as Apple Music, TV +, Arcade, iCloud, or for third-party apps such as Spotify, YouTube Premium, Canva.
Therefore, if you change the country of the App Store, be sure to cancel your active subscription.
Even after canceling your subscription, you may have to wait until the end of your subscription period.
Note: Subscriptions must be purchased / billed from the App Store. If you purchased your subscription outside of the App Store (such as Netflix or Prime Video), you don’t need to cancel it.
2. Use the remaining Apple ID balance
Do you have an Apple ID balance or store credits left? Here you can learn how to check the balance.
You cannot change the country of the App Store if you have at least 1 cent in your balance. In this case, add exactly the amount you need to buy the app or song, or add something and use it. Then try changing countries. Alternatively, you can contact Apple Support. That way, it will be supported in this situation.
3. Wait for the refund or pre-order to be completed
Have you pre-ordered games, songs, albums, movies, apps, TV shows, etc. from the App Store or iTunes Store? Are you waiting for this to be available? If yes, you will not be able to change the country of the App Store until this pre-purchased item is available. Or unless you cancel your pre-order.
To view or cancel your pre-order on your iPhone and iPad:
- Open the App Store and Profile photo It is in the upper right.
- Tap your name..
- here, pre order, That means you have some pre-orders. Tap the reserved item to follow and cancel.
- If you don’t see the pre-orders section in step 3, there are no pre-orders pending.
In addition, did you request a refund for your purchase? If yes, please wait for it to complete. You can then change the country of the App Store.
In addition, did you rent a movie or TV show from the iTunes Store? If yes, you can change the country of the App Store after watching the movie. Please start watching within 30 days after rental. And once you start watching, you have 48 hours to finish it.
4. Leave existing family sharing
If you are part of a Family Sharing Group, you will not be able to change it unless you leave the App Store country. To stop being part of family sharing:
- Open iPhone Setting App and tap your name From above.

After this, restart your iPhone and try changing the country of the App Store. It should work.
5. Make sure you have a new country payment method

However, I changed the country of the App Store several times without requiring a payment method. This is because no valid payment method has been added to your Apple ID, even when you are in your country.
Therefore, if you’re traveling to another country for an extended period of time, you may be using a credit card or local payment method that Apple accepts in the country you’re switching to.

Alternatively, you can delete the existing payment method (if you are using one). Then restart your iPhone and try changing the country of the App Store. It works.
6. Contact Apple Support
Finally, if nothing helps, or if you have pending store credits that aren’t enough to buy one item, contact Apple Support. Please explain your situation, and they will help you further by providing personalized account-specific support that is beyond the scope of this post.
