After launching the Bluetooth-enabled smart speaker HomePod in India in early 2020, Apple launched the smaller HomePod mini in India last October. The HomePod mini is now backed by two of India’s most popular music streaming services, JioSaavn and Gaana. Yes, HomePod mini users can now stream songs from these two streaming services in India.

Starting today, Indian HomePod mini users can ask Siri to play JioSaavn or Gaana songs. If you already have an ad-free subscription service for any of these streaming services, we’ll be happy to eventually take advantage of this feature.

For those who don’t know, Apple has allowed users to stream music only from their music streaming platform. That’s Apple Music. However, while Apple Music has millions of songs, the platform doesn’t include songs from many regions.

Therefore, this change gives Indian HomePodmini users the advantage of being able to play songs in different regional languages, as JioSaavn and Gaana have songs from different regions for Indian listeners. For JioSaavn Library of over 60 million songs, Hindi, English, including regional songs. Gaana, on the other hand, has a library of 45 million tracks containing songs in 25 different Indian languages.

Please note that you now need to add a service to your HomePod mini before you can start playing songs via JioSaavn or Gaana on your device. You can easily do so from the app settings.
